Lesson:Preposition + -ing

Part A

A regra desta lição é simples: verbo depois de preposição leva -ing.

Exemplo:

I am thinking about working for you.

Preposição: about
Verbo: work

Alguns casos comuns:

verb + preposition + -ing
insist on	think of	pay for	dream about	look forward to
succeed in	talk about	agree on	feel like	work on
decide on	decide against	apologize for	believe in	worry about

Exemplos de uso:

1. I want to go to the movies, but he keeps insisting on going home.
2. He's thinking of traveling abroad.
3. You will pay for making me wait.
4. She always dreamed about being a princess.
5. I am looking forward to working with you.
6. You succeeded in ruining my day. Congratulations!
7. We're talking about joining them in the project.
8. We agreed on doing the research before anything else.
9. Sam doesn't feel like partying tonight.
10. The company has been working on keeping their facebook page up-to-date.
11. The guys decided on watching the game at the bar.
12. You should probably decide against using that horrible color to paint your office.
13. I apologize for interrupting you, but I really need some help right now.
14. We believe in building a stronger community by helping one another.
15. She always worries about upsetting me.

Part B

Em muitos casos não precisamos ter um verbo antes da preposição.

Exemplos:

1. Would you be interested in buying my house?
2. He is definitely good at wasting time.
3. They are tired of losing.
4. I need to study French instead of watching movies.
5. He broke the contract in spite of knowing it was wrong.
6. My neighbors are sad about moving to another city.
7. Freedom is not about doing whatever you want, but doing that which is good for you.
8. Think twice before telling others about your dreams.
9. After losing my job, all I had left was my family.
10. Abstain from eating sweets if you intend on losing weight.
