Expressions + -ing

Após algumas expressões também adicionamos a terminação -ing ao verbo.

1. it's no use

  • It's no use calling her now. She will never forgive us.
  • It's no use telling them the truth. They will not understand the situation.

2. there's no point in

  • There's no point in selling the car right now if you will only need the money next year. (simple present)
  • There was no point in staying until the end of the class. That's why we decided to leave. (simple past)
  • There was no point in you telling her about our affair. You only complicated things. (expression + object + verb)

3. it's (not) worth

  • They have left already. It's not worth going over there now.
  • It's not worth risking your life for so little money.
  • The new book that just came out is definitely worth reading.
  • It's worth reading all the books in the saga "A Song of Ice and Fire".

4. have (difficulty/trouble/a hard time)
