Used to

Utilizamos used to quando queremos falar de algo que costumávamos fazer em um passado e que no presente não fazemos mais ou não fazemos da mesma forma.

A forma para utilizarmos é used to + verb Por causa disso Used To é apenas usado no passado, portanto nas formas interrogativas e negativas utilizaremos o auxiliar did Observe alguns exemplos:

  • Eles costumavam ir lá.
• I used to be a good student.
  • Eu costumava ser um bom aluno.
• He didn't use to come here on Sundays.
  • Ele não costumava vir aqui nos domingos.
• He didn't use to play soccer.

The Monster of the Lake

Once upon a time, on a long, slow boat trip to Scotland, a little girl named Katty tossed her oatmeal overboard—again, and again, and again. She was a picky eater, and she didn't like oatmeal very much.

Because of Katty's oatmeal, a very small worm, who used to live inside of this lake, started to eat bowl after bowl of tossed oatmeal. It had never tasted anything as wonderful as oatmeal in its whole life, so...

Kimmy _______ take dance classes when she was a little girl. She took ballet lessons first, and later she learned how to tap dance and jazz dance.
