Grammar

Usando o 's como possessivo

Já vimos na lição 13 como usar pronomes possessivos (his, her, their, etc).

Agora vamos ver com usar o apóstrofo + s para indicar posse.

Examples

  • Jane's car is very expensive.
    • O carro de Jane é muito caro.
  • My friend's house is in New York.
    • A casa do meu amigo fica em Nova Iorque.
  • The boy's toy is in the park.
    • O brinquedo do menino está no parque.
  • The boys' toys are in the park.
    • Os brinquedos dos meninos estão no parque.
  • The boys' toy is in the park.
    • O brinquedo dos meninos está no parque.

Observações!

Exercises

1. Coloque ' ou 's:

  1. Don ___ car is in the garage.
  2. They sell ladies ___ hats in this store.
  3. The women ___ husbands are late.
  4. My friends ___ sisters are beautiful.
  5. Mr. Simpson ___ secretary is outside.
  6. I don't like boys ___ shoes.
  7. The doctor ___ wife is very intelligent.

2. Traduza para o inglês e faça frases com as expressões possessivas:

  1. os vestidos das meninas
  2. o rabo do cachorro
  3. os brinquedos dos bebês
  4. os livros dos meus irmãos
  5. a ideia de Mary
  6. a saia da minha mãe
