Superlative Adjectives

Ex.: She is the tallest girl in her class.

Regras:

1. Normalmente adicionamos the -est.

  • She is the oldest in her family.

(nice -> nicest)

  • Alexandra gave me the nicest gift.
    • Alexandra me deu o presente mais legal.

(big -> biggest)

  • My house is the biggest on the street.
    • A minha casa é a maior da rua.

4. Se o adjetivo terminar em y, tiramos o y e acrescentamos -iest. (happy -> happiest)

  • Today was the happiest day of my life.

Long

Consideramos adjetivos longos:

Regras:

Para adjetivos longos temos apenas uma regra: acrescentamos the most antes do adjetivo.

  • I want my website to be the most modern.
  • This computer is the most expensive in the store.

good → the best
well (healthy) → the best
bad → worst
far → farthest/furthest
  • This cellphone is the best there is.
    • Este celular é o melhor que existe.
