Grammar

Utilizamos may/might para mostrar possibilidade de algo, é como se fosse nosso "talvez",para utilizarmos basta utilizar sujeito+may/might+ verbo.
Observe:
  • He might talk to her about it.
    • Ele talvez fale com ela sobre isso.
  • It might rain today
    • Pode chover hoje.
  • I may go today.
    • Talvez eu vá hoje.
A diferença entre may e might é que Might mostra menos certeza que May, ou seja no caso "I might go" e "I may go" a segunda frase mostra uma maior probabilidade de acontecer.
May
May também pode ser utilizado para pedirmos ou para mostrar permissão ou fazer pedidos educadamente.
Observe:
  • May I ask you a question?
    • Poderia lhe fazer uma pergunta?
  • May I go to the bathroom?
    • Posso ir ao banheiro?
  • She may go now.
    • Ela já pode ir.
