Lesson: Essentials/32
Grammar
Comparative Adjectives
Separamos eles em duas categorias: short e long.
Short
Consideramos adjetivos curtos:
Regras:
1. Normalmente adicionamos -er.
Ex.: She is older than her sister.
(late -> later)
Ex.: I'll talk to you later. -> Falarei com você mais tarde.
(big -> bigger)
Ex.: My new house is bigger than the old one. -> Minha casa nova é maior do que a antiga.
4. Se o adjetivo terminar em y, tiramos o y e acrescentamos -ier. (happy -> happier)
Ex.: I am happier now that I am on vacations.
Long
Consideramos adjetivos longos:
Regras:
Para adjetivos longos temos apenas uma regra: acrescentamos more antes do adjetivo.
Ex.: I want my website to look more modern.
- This computer is much more expensive than that one.
good → better |
well (healthy) → better |
bad → worse |
far → farther/further |
Ex.: This cellphone is better than the other.
than
Ex.: Today you are slower than yesterday.
