Lesson 15

Grammar

Much, many, a lot of

Hoje vamos aprender a usar as palavras much, many e a lot of.

Para saber aplicar estas palavras corretamente, precisamos saber dizer se uma palavra é um substantivo contável ou não. Se precisar de uma revisão, assista ao video da lição #2.
Traduzindo para o português temos:

much muito usado com substantivos não contáveis.
many muitos usado com substantivos contáveis.
a lot of muito, muitos usado com substantivos contáveis e não contáveis.

  • I have many friends.
    • Eu tenho muitos amigos.
  • She doesn't have much time.
    • Ela não tem muito tempo.
  • He has a lot of friends.
    • Ele tem muitos amigos.
  • They have a lot of time.
    • Eles têm muito tempo.

Friends é um substantivo contável. Time é um substantivo não contável.

Uma dica útil é que a palavra "many" vem sempre com substantivos no plural, enquanto o "much" com substantivos no singular. "Friends" está no plural, enquanto time está no singular.
