Old Lives


Before we talk about Roberto and Sarah’s new life, let’s speak about their old lives.
Roberto is eighteen years old, he is Brazilian, he lives in são paulo and he is finishing high school and he is also studying english.
His mother thinks that it would be nice for him to study english abroad, his father and his mother have enough money to pay for his studies in US.
His mother is a dentist and his father is a lawyer, they work really hard.
Roberto is enjoying the ideia of living abroad, He is really looking forward to know a new country but at the same time he is anxious because it is his first time abroad.
Roberto likes to listen to music, watch series and he also likes to play video game.
He has some good friends in São Paulo, but now he needs to make new friends when he arrives in Woodsville.
He is packing his bags with all his favorite things, he is taking his video game, his notebook and his favorite clothes with him.::

1- Make a sentence using present continuous or simple present for each of the words you didn't know.


2- After reading the text, answer:

a- What do his parents do for a living?
b- What do you do for a living?
c- What city is Roberto from?
d- What is his mother's opinion about Roberto's english studies?
e- What is Roberto feeling?
f- What are some of Roberto's interests?
g- And what about you? Tell your likes and dislikes
h- How would you feel in Roberto's place?

3- Make two sentences with each of these expressions using present continuous and/or simple present, ask your teacher for help if you need an explanation about the use of these expressions. (don't forget to use negative and interrogative forms)

4-Explain how your job works.Follow the example below: Yuu Watase

She is a mangaka, a mangaka is an artist who draws japanese comic books.
She arrives at work at 8 o'clock, she has breakfast with her coworkers and at 9 o'clock she begins drawing
She needs to finish half of her work until noon, She has lunch with her coworker at noon.
At 3 pm She goes to the meeting room to see how the work is going.
She goes home at 6 pm.

5- Based on the text, create a schedule for Roberto's old life.

Ex:" Roberto wakes up everyday at 8:00 and goes to school at 9:00, on tuesdays he needs to go to the english course at 3pm...."

6-Tell your teacher or write a list of the things you like the most and explain why, you can talk about movies, games, songs, artists or even food!
